If you think we could be a good fit to meet your needs, you will submit a request for an initial consultation. From here, you will fill out a prescreening form which be reviewed by staff. If appropriate for care, our team will be in touch to gather further information and schedule your first appointment. You can fill out the request form here (link to it).

Everyone’s treatment plan is different. In general, we will meet more frequently at first. As you feel more like yourself, we can space out or meetings. Appointment frequency ranges from biweekly to once every 3 months. 

No, you do not. While we accept insurance from several companies, we also accept self-pay patients. The rate for a 60-minute new intake is 350. A 30-minute return medication management visit is 175.  

We see ages 12-60.  

All visits are virtual and require audio and video. Before your appointment, you will receive a link to join. You can also find this link in the patient portal. Please make sure you are in a private area with good WiFi.  

Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours notice will be billed the full visit fee. Patients who are more than 5 minutes late are considered no shows. No shows will be charged the full visit fee. See insurance page for rates. Patients with three late cancellations or missed appointments will be discharged from the practice. 

Hive Mental Health and Wellness does not offer ketamine/ ECT/TMS, intensive outpatient or partial outpatient therapy, crisis or emergency services, detoxification services, court-ordered treatments, bariatric evaluations or other surgical clearances, employment assessments, child custody determinations, weapons ownership evaluations, workman’s comp evaluations, SSDI determinations, or service animal letters. Additionally, we do not provide high-dose stimulants, a combination of stimulants and benzodiazepines, long-term benzodiazepine prescriptions, injectables, Vivitrol, Suboxone/Methadone, or other MAT treatments. 

We are licensed in the state of Virginia. This means that as long as you are in Virginia at the time of your visit, you can be in any location in the state. All of our visits are telehealth currently.

Benzodiazepines and stimulants are controlled substances because they can have effects on the body that can lead to negative consequences if misused, such as respiratory depression, addiction, and death. Hive Mental Health and Wellness does not prescribe long-term use of benzodiazepines. Additionally, we do not prescribe multiple controlled substances together or prescribe to anyone taking more than one controlled substance. We maintain the right to decline to provide this service. We do not offer MAT/Suboxone/Subutex/Methadone/opiates. Please ask about alternative treatment options for anxiety and insomnia. 

The use of stimulant medications will be considered after a thorough evaluation and at the sole discretion of the provider. There is no guarantee that our providers will continue a current medication or offer refills. We maintain the right to decline to provide this service. Patients who are prescribed a stimulant may be required to be seen in-person per DEA regulations.

*Patients with stimulant prescriptions may be subjected to routine vitals/EKG/drug testing.  

This is something that will be discussed during your visit. We are here to work with you and to help you be your best self. We provide shared decision-making, which includes a discussion on risks versus benefits. We also take a holistic approach to mental health care and provide coaching on diet, exercise, sleep, and alternative therapies to prescription medications depending on the symptoms you are experiencing. 

Yes, to an extent. While our medication management visits typically involve therapeutic communication and therapeutic techniques such as limited CBT and motivational interviewing, it is done during the medication visit. We do not provide therapy-only visits without medication management.  

We do not provide emergency services and do not have a provider on call. If you are experiencing an emergency or crisis, please call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room. 988 is also available 24-7 as a crisis/mental health hotline, free of charge.
